Integrated Maintenance for Mobile Mining Equipment

KGHM is a leading mining company. With >12 sites dotted around the globe engaging in exploration, production and smelting activities, KGHM strives to supply the world with sustainable copper. Delivery of that copper relies on the integrity and availability of mobile mining equipment – specifically maintaining these assets. IK-CADDI was deployed at one of KGHM's sites to integrate mobile equipment maintenance data and present this information to KGHM employees in a timely manner.

Challenge

Effective maintenance of mobile mining equipment depends on timely access to accurate operational data. However, critical maintenance information is often dispersed across multiple systems, making it difficult for maintenance teams to gain a complete picture of individual asset and collective fleet health. Without a unified view, identifying emerging issues and making proactive maintenance decisions becomes increasingly challenging.

KGHM came to InterKnowlogy looking for a more efficient way to consolidate maintenance information from multiple operational data sources to improve fleet visibility and support proactive maintenance planning. Key maintenance indicators including vehicle operating hours, warranty information, and fluid sample results were stored separately, requiring personnel to manually gather and interpret information before taking action. This fragmented process reduced efficiency, introduced costly delays to decision-making, and limited the organization's ability to effectively manage its entire mobile equipment fleet.

Solution

InterKnowlogy deployed its IK-CADDI platform across a KGHM site to integrate and analyze maintenance information from multiple data sources into a single, intelligent solution. CADDI automatically connected data relating to vehicle hours, warranty status, and fluid sample analysis, providing maintenance personnel with a comprehensive view of fleet performance.

To further streamline operations, a Microsoft Teams notification system was implemented to deliver daily alerts on maintenance issues, enabling teams to address potential problems before they escalate. The result was a simple, intuitive user experience that transformed complex maintenance data into actionable operational intelligence.

Impact

By consolidating maintenance data into a single AI-powered platform, KGHM significantly improved visibility across its mobile mining equipment fleet. Daily automated notifications enabled faster identification of maintenance concerns, reducing:

  • The need for manual monitoring while supporting more proactive maintenance practices
  • The likelihood of equipment lapsing warranty, potentially saving millions
  • Poor availability of equipment

With integrated access to critical operational information, maintenance personnel could make faster, better-informed decisions while effectively managing the entire fleet through a streamlined, user-friendly experience. CADDI transformed disconnected maintenance data into timely, actionable insights that enhanced operational awareness and improved maintenance efficiency.
