Bridging >250 000 Requirements Between Two Operating Systems

Noble Corporation is a leading global offshore drilling contractor for the oil and gas industry. With a global fleet of ~40 rigs, Noble combines exceptional people, assets and technology to be the First Choice Offshore for its employees, clients and investors. As part of an acquisition, Noble needed to understand how a different operating system aligned with its own requirements and where gaps needed to be addressed. IK-CADDI customized its Requirements Bridging enterprise application for this challenge resulting in a detailed review of over 250 000 operating requirements.

Challenge

During a $1.6B acquisition, Noble needed to compare and validate requirements across two operating systems while maintaining complete traceability and compliance.

To support this acquisition, IK-CADDI customized its Requirements Bridging enterprise application to deliver the comparison and enable individuals in the organization to address highlighted gaps on an individual requirement level. The solution enabled users to compare and bridge requirements across multiple document types, including external documents to internal management systems, subsets of management system documentation, different versions of the same document, and external documents against one another.

Traditional document comparison and requirements bridging is a highly manual, time-consuming process that relies heavily on subject matter experts. Reviewing thousands of requirements across multiple document sets can take weeks or even months while increasing the likelihood of human error, overlooked gaps, and inconsistent interpretations.

Noble required a solution capable of automatically detecting requirements within a subordinate management systems and performing comprehensive gap analyses to determine whether each requirement was fully met, insufficiently met, or missing entirely. The organization also needed a scalable solution that could support both large enterprise comparisons and routine compliance verifications while producing transparent, auditable results.

Solution

IK-CADDI Requirements Bridging enterprise application was customized to automate the end-to-end requirements comparison process by identifying, analyzing, and linking requirements across multiple document sources. Rather than relying on manual reviews, CADDI extracted ~250 000 individual requirements, assessed compliance, and generated detailed gap analyses supported by clear explanations and traceable citations.

The application supports multiple comparison scenarios, including:

  • External documents to enterprise management systems
  • External documents to selected subsets of management system documentation
  • Internal document version comparisons and edition delta analysis
  • External document-to-document comparisons

The solution was fully deployed in just six weeks and seamlessly integrated into Noble's existing Document Process Hub, allowing teams to rapidly begin conducting large-scale compliance assessments while significantly reducing manual effort.

Impact

CADDI transformed Noble's requirements bridging process by replacing months of manual document reviews with automated, AI-driven analysis. The solution produced thousands of requirement-level comparisons, clearly identifying where requirements were met, insufficiently met, or missing altogether.

Key outcomes included:

  • ROI of 20x vs conventional methods
  • Thousands of hours of manual review eliminated
  • >250k requirements automatically identified and assessed
  • Real-time, auditable compliance reporting with traceable evidence
  • Improved consistency, accuracy, and confidence across document reviews

By automating quality control, CADDI enabled Noble's subject matter experts to focus on higher-value quality assurance activities instead of repetitive document comparisons. The result was faster resource allocation and governance and assurance throughout the merger process.
