Connecting People With Information To Do The Job Right

Noble Corporation is a leading global offshore drilling contractor for the oil and gas industry. With a global fleet of ~40 rigs, Noble combines exceptional people, assets and technology to be the First Choice Offshore for its employees, clients and investors. To deliver this vision, Noble needed to eliminate the friction between people and the information they need to do their jobs right – if the job is done right, it's done safely, reliably and sustainably.

Challenge

In high-risk industrial environments, frontline workers depend on timely access to accurate operational information to perform tasks safely and efficiently. However, task-based information is often scattered across procedures, policies, incident reports, maintenance records, and operational manuals, making it difficult to locate the right information when it is needed. This lack of immediate access can delay decision-making, increase operational risk, and impact safety and productivity.

To address these challenges, InterKnowlogy partnered with Noble to deploy IK-CADDI, an AI-powered frontline assistant designed to provide timely, relevant and context-rich information.

Noble faced several challenges that limited operational efficiency and increased safety risk across its drilling operations.

  1. Frontline workers often struggled to quickly locate the correct procedures and policies required to complete tasks safely. Even when documentation could be found, navigating lengthy manuals to identify the relevant information was time-consuming and inefficient.
  1. Information retrieval was further complicated by the need to distinguish between rig-specific procedures and corporate standards, increasing the likelihood of using outdated or incorrect guidance.
  1. Valuable information captured through safety incidents, observations, maintenance records, and asset integrity reports was not consistently surfaced when needed.

As a result, employees frequently relied on supervisors or experienced coworkers for guidance, or in some cases made assumptions, introducing unnecessary operational and safety risks. This limited situational awareness meant that lessons learned from previous events were often overlooked, increasing the risk of repeated incidents and equipment failures.

Like many industrial organizations, Noble also recognized that introducing new digital tools to frontline workers can be difficult unless the technology is intuitive, accessible, and fits naturally into existing workflows.

Solution

InterKnowlogy deployed IK-CADDI across ~40 drilling rigs to provide frontline workers with immediate access to trusted operational knowledge through a simple, conversational interface - voice or text - eliminating the need for extensive training or complex navigation.

The solution integrates information from multiple enterprise data sources, including policies and procedures, safety incidents and observations, and maintenance and asset integrity records. IK-CADDI intelligently understands, correlates, and synthesizes this information to deliver concise, context-rich answers tailored to the user's specific operational situation.

The deployment also met Noble's rigorous cybersecurity requirements, ensuring enterprise-grade security while providing rapid access to critical information.

Impact

The deployment of IK-CADDI delivered measurable improvements in operational performance and frontline adoption, e.g.:

  • Within the first three months, user adoption reached 90% across the deployed rigs, demonstrating the value of an intuitive, voice-enabled interface that required virtually no training.
  • Significantly reduced the time spent searching through documentation by as much as 90%, allowing workers to make faster, more informed decisions while improving procedural compliance and reducing operational downtime.
  • With 100s of CADDI interactions per week Noble personnel saved the equivalent of 25 years of time

By transforming how frontline workers access critical information, IK-CADDI helped Noble improve procedural discipline, increase operational efficiency, and enable faster, more confident decision-making across its drilling operations.

Bridging >250 000 Requirements Between Two Operating Systems

Noble Corporation is a leading global offshore drilling contractor for the oil and gas industry. With a global fleet of ~40 rigs, Noble combines exceptional people, assets and technology to be the First Choice Offshore for its employees, clients and investors. As part of an acquisition, Noble needed to understand how a different operating system aligned with its own requirements and where gaps needed to be addressed. IK-CADDI customized its Requirements Bridging enterprise application for this challenge resulting in a detailed review of over 250 000 operating requirements.
